Windows · Wellbeing · Clipboard

Your notch,
finally useful.

Toolnotch drops three everyday tools out of your MacBook's notch: a window manager that survives unplugging your display, screen breaks that wait out your calls, and clipboard history one keystroke away. They should have shipped with macOS.

macOS 14+ · Apple silicon & Intel · one-time purchase

An animated demo of Toolnotch on a MacBook screen. First, the Arc window snaps to the left half with Control-Option-Left arrow and the island under the notch shows the action with its undo key; pressing again cycles to two-thirds. Then a break warning appears in the island, a break card drops from the notch while the screen blurs, and the island confirms the break. Finally, Command-Shift-V drops the clipboard history from the notch, with a preview and a masked API key.

Every day, on every Mac

Three small frustrations. One notch.

18:02

You unplug the monitor. Every window piles onto the laptop, and tomorrow you rebuild the layout by hand.

Windows
17:45

Your eyes burn at six. You can't remember the last time you looked further than the screen.

Wellbeing
16:21

You copy the same command for the fourth time today, because the last copy overwrote it.

Clipboard

01 Windows

Displays never break your layout.

Unplug your external display and every window moves neatly onto the laptop. Plug it back in and everything returns exactly where it was. No more rebuilding your desk every morning.

Studio Display connectedCode restored · 6 windows⌃⌥⌫

Code workspace: Cursor, Arc and Terminal on the Studio Display; Slack, Notes and Figma on the laptop.

Press again to cycle

⌃⌥← snaps to the left half. Press it again for two-thirds, again for a third, then the window hops to the next display. Halves, quarters, thirds, maximize and center, all on ⌃⌥.

Undo anything

Every window action shows in the island with its undo key. ⌃⌥⌫ puts things back.

Workspaces

One keystroke, or plugging in a display, arranges your windows across screens. A workspace can also open, hide or quit apps, run a Shortcut and pause Wellbeing breaks for a call.

Drag a window to the notch

Pull a window towards the top of the screen: layout targets drop out of the notch. Release it on one.

Rules per app

Terminal always opens bottom-right on the big screen. Slack always fills the laptop. Set it once.

Keyboard first, and yours to remap

Sixteen snap targets, tidy all windows with ⌃⌥=, move to the next display with ⌃⌥⌘→. Every shortcut can be changed, and Toolnotch tells you when one clashes with another app.

02 Wellbeing

Your eyes get a break. Your calls don't.

Every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Toolnotch keeps the 20-20-20 rule for you, warns you 30 seconds ahead in the island, waits until you stop typing, and steps aside on its own when you're in a meeting.

Moderate. A break card drops from the notch and the screen blurs.

Pauses automatically

It notices when the mic or camera is in use and holds the break. It only detects that they are in use: nothing is recorded, nothing is listened to. It also waits for you to stop typing before a break starts.

A morning with a meeting

Before a meeting it offers the break early. During the call it stays out of the way. After the call, the island tells you how long you went without one.

Streaks that forgive one slip

A day counts when at least 80% of its breaks were taken, so one skipped break during a deadline doesn't reset weeks of good habits. A daily panel shows the next break and a timeline; a weekly report shows the patterns.

More than your eyes

A long guided break every 90 minutes, and blink and posture nudges: one soft pulse under the notch, no text, no sound, nothing to dismiss. Snooze from the island with a click, or dismiss a break with esc.

03 Clipboard

Everything you copied, one keystroke up.

⌘⇧V drops your clipboard history out of the notch, on the screen you're looking at. Real app icons, favicons and link previews, so a history that is mostly text from Terminal and your browser is still easy to scan.

Secrets stay masked

API keys, tokens and passwords show their first characters, then dots. Links that carry a key keep their domain readable and hide only the value. Paste still sends the real thing.

Paste Stack

Copy several things, then paste them back one after another, in the order you copied them. The island shows what comes next.

Readable at a glance

Every clip gets a type you can read: links, code, commands, colours, images, secrets. Pin what you paste every day, save snippets, and search everything.

The notch hub

One notch. One purchase.

Click the notch or the menu bar icon and all three tools open side by side. On a display without a notch, the same panel hangs from the menu bar.

Designed for the Mac

Feels like it came with it.

Pure black panels that melt into the notch, one accent colour you choose, and springs tuned to feel like macOS rather than a web page.

Your colour

One accent, and it's yours

Everything is black and white except one colour: the one you pick. Buttons flip their text to black or white to stay readable.

Native

SwiftUI and AppKit

A real Mac app, not a web page in a window. It lives in the menu bar, with no Dock icon.

Footprint

Small and quiet

A [SIZE] download that stays out of the way until you reach for it.

Keyboard

Keyboard first

Every action has a shortcut, every shortcut can be remapped, and clashes are flagged. esc always closes.

Motion

Respects Reduce Motion

Panels unfold with springs by default. With Reduce Motion on, they simply appear.

Privacy

Stays on your Mac

Your clipboard, breaks and layouts stay on your Mac. Wellbeing only checks whether the mic or camera is in use; it never records.

Displays

Notch or no notch

On an external display without a notch, the same shape hangs from the menu bar, on the screen you're using.

Compatibility

macOS 14 and later

Runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

FAQ

Questions

Anything else? Write to [EMAIL].

Which permissions does Toolnotch need?

Windows needs Accessibility access, which is how every Mac window manager moves and resizes windows. Clipboard reads the pasteboard to keep your history. Wellbeing checks whether the microphone or camera is in use so it can pause breaks during calls; it never records or listens.

Does it work on a Mac or display without a notch?

Yes. On a display without a notch, every panel hangs from the centre of the menu bar with the same shape, on the screen you are using. External displays work the same way.

What happens to my data?

Your clipboard history, break stats and layouts stay on your Mac. Secrets such as API keys and passwords are masked on screen, and links that carry a key are never loaded or previewed.

Can I use only one or two of the tools?

Yes. Each tool is a separate module that you can turn off in Settings. [CONFIRM]

Will it conflict with my current window manager or clipboard app?

Toolnotch detects shortcut conflicts and lets you remap any shortcut. If you keep another app for one job, turn that Toolnotch tool off.

Which macOS versions are supported?

macOS 14+ · Apple silicon & Intel.

Is there a free trial?

What is your refund policy?
